Only hope is to change votes
3:28pm Friday 30th August 2013 in Your Say
I NOTICE that the call for Ian Carr’s head is continuing to gain momentum.
As he is my local councillor I find it interesting that despite only receiving 489 votes to take the Charlton ward at the last election, he is allowed to run in what in my opinion is a fairly dictatorial manner a borough with more than 116,000 residents!
The problem seems to be that despite all the moans from disgruntled correspondents to this paper at the seeming ineptitude of our councillors, and Mr Carr in particular, time after time the same sort of people continue to give Tory candidates their votes!
With such a monopoly in the town, is it any wonder that once elected they feel they have a mandate to do just what they like?
A friend of mine once said that he reckoned he could shave a monkey, push it through Burton’s and if he were to put a blue rosette on the resulting suited primate, he could get it elected to TVBC as a Conservative councillor!
Until those 489 Charlton residents and the rest of the electorate of the borough take a good look at what Ian Carr and his Tory colleagues are doing to (or not doing for) our once wonderful town, and change their voting pattern, then I fear there is no hope of change for Andover.
