'This is a truly miserable way to live'
11:14am Thursday 19th September 2013 in Your Say
I AM sadly in receipt of jobseekers’ allowance and this week I have not received it. I have 199p in my bank account to live on.
They chose NOT to send it because I didn’t sign on last week. I only receive £48 a week as it is to manage on because the remainder is taken by Southern Electric.
I didn’t sign on last week because I was having to have a CT scan on my head.
Iphonedon Monday2ndto tell them I couldn’t attend. They suggested I come and sign on the Friday instead and I told them I can’t because I used my petrol to go to Salisbury and couldn’t afford an Andover trip too. I was told someone would phone me if there was an issue.
No call came but then no money come Tuesday.
I called and was first dealt with by a very rude guy who said I will get nothing because I didn’t come in.
I wasn’t rude and was trying to make him understand I couldn’t get there and he promptly told me he was terminating the call and hung up on me.
I called back and spoke to someone more helpful who told me it will go to a “decision-maker” and may take three working days.
Today still nothing. I’ve tried and tried phoning them but I’m getting no answer. How on earth can I live like this when nobody will help?
My CT scan was not a lie. I have the proof I went. It’s time these government workers stop messing around with people’s lives.
I’m not lazy, I’ve applied for hundreds of jobs. Prior to this round of unemployment I’ve worked for 30 years!! Please highlight this nonsense. I can well understand whypeople get to the end of their tether.
It’s truly a miserable way to live.
