A sorry state of affairs...
12:31pm Thursday 24th October 2013 in Your Say
ON reading your “Foodbank Crisis” headline and accompanying report, my blood pressure instantly shot up.
The media reports daily on the appalling treatment of vulnerable people in our so-called civilized country, and now it seems thousands of Andover residents are reliant on foodbanks.
I have no doubt this state of affairs is replicated across the UK.
My question is simply this: the UK has an enormous foreign aid budget; why does nobody demand that our spendthrift government divert part of this budget in order that foodbanks are no longer necessary.
After all charity is supposed to begin at home.
While they are at it, the NHS, care homes etc, etc could also use some of this foreign aid the government squanders on the likes of India, who have their own space programme.
Baffled and very annoyed.
