THE humbling stories and memories of the First World War made for an interesting but poignant read.

I was particularly drawn to the ghostly time-slip picture provided by the pupils at Abbotts Ann school. More of these please.

However, the countless number who made the ultimate sacrifice fighting for our liberty would not be happy that the EU is now our controlling master and has taken away many of our freedoms.

This, together with our sieve-like borders leaking illegal immigrants, is slowly destroying our English way of life.

These are only two of the ills that this country is suffering one hundred years on from the First World War.

So Mr Politician what have they all fought and died for?
