IT seems that, re the front page (Andover Advertiser, 17 October), that local/ national press and local/ national politicians – those who consider themselves in disagreement with UKIP – do not appear capable of mounting a substantive, coherent POLITICAL argument against the party relying, as usual, on passing off innuendo and ‘mud-slinging’ as political ‘activity’.

It may be ‘off the radar’ locally but [nationwide] many Tory MPs are paying some of their family to do ‘secretarial’ work in support of the MP’s line of duty and it seems that quite a few also have worked out some imaginative (but legal) schemes about claiming on their children’s educational needs and travel.

On the matter of ‘prima facie’ evidence Cllr Rolt is fully entitled to his expenses claim and none of his detractors have said otherwise, preferring instead to hide behind the principle of ‘do as I say, not as I do’.

Hypocrisy, or what?
