IS this the same Colin Andrews (Letters 17 October) who (ten?) years back was one of the ‘leading lights’ in the ‘crop circles hoaxers’ appreciation society and who strove tirelessly to promote the myth itself and the ‘cod science’ which was claimed proved the ‘paranormal’ provenance of the ‘hoaxers’ work?
Back then I seem to recall that his name may have been prefaced by the abbreviation ‘Prof’.
It is good that ‘Prof Andrews’ has intervened to highlight the known potential errors in ‘fracking’ as in the UK experts in geology, hydrology, technology and science have long been saying that if these are studiously avoided and the process carried out in a thorough, professional, competent and skilful manner, then there is no untoward risk in fracking at all.
Given the comprehensive success of fracking in North America (both commercially and operationally) Prof Andrews seems to be gambling on overreliance, ref. an isolated lapse in California.
