PETER Sumner’s letter fairly sums up why a vote for Cameron in the May elections would be a wasted vote.

Diane James confirmed that she will fight the North West Hampshire seat on a UKIP ticket in May and this would entail standing down as an MEP. She went on to confirm that she is actively seeking a local residence because she feels that she should be accessible to the people that she represents in Parliament: no political speak or blather, she simply says it as it is.

Compare that with the Conservative candidate. Sir George Young is retiring and we are left with a complete unknown. His name is Kit Malthouse and he is quoted in the national papers as saying that he intends to follow Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, and remain in his post as the Deputy Mayor of London.

Imagine how accessible he will be and how much interest he is going to show in the local people.

Wouldn’t you go for the bright lights of London rather than dear old Andover? Sir George has served his constituency well for a lifetime: who, in this constituency, has not heard of him or indeed met him? He will be sadly missed.

Clearly, if you want an MP who is familiar with his territory and his people, there is only one person to vote for: I commend Diane James. If you would like to meet her, she can be found walking around Andover High Street on many Saturdays – I have met her there on three occasions so far.

And while we’re at it, just whose side is Cllr Carr (Conservative) on?

He has now ordered that traders should not be allowed to erect A-boards, as a result of which many small traders will be forced to close.

This will result in loss of revenue for TVBC, increases in welfare costs and increases in council tax to reduce the impact of this latest stupidity.

These people seem to have quite lost touch with reality.
