I WRITE regarding Peter Sumner’s letter in the paper of January 9 entitled “political words fail to ring true”.
I have previously written heavily criticising Cllr David Drew for not clearly disclosing his political position when writing letters to this paper. I stated that it was disingenuous and somewhat dishonest to do so.
I note that Mr Sumner is highly critical of Cllr Drew, as well as other Conservative figures, in his letter but does not identify himself as a formal member of the local UKIP committee and is, in fact, in charge of recruitment.
Again I call on politicians and political activists to clearly identify their positions when writing letters to this paper or we, the electorate, might think they are cynically using a public forum to make pseudopolitical statements.
