I THINK someone needs to wake up and take a look at the disaster that has been created around the roads in and around Floral Way before someone gets seriously injured or worse.

By resolving one problem, many more have been created.

The introduction of a buses-only stretch of road by John Hanson School is an absolute joke. So many drivers ignore this, children are crossing the road at all times during the day and early evening, looking out for buses only, and are greeted with anything but, speeding round the bend.

And what was the benefit of making the exit from the top of the Mace shop a No Entry? Many drivers ignore this and go out that way.

It is frightening to see children crossing the road here looking one way, not expecting anything to be coming out of the No Entry, only for the inevitable to happen.

Those that do adhere to this sit patiently waiting to join the Salisbury Road as someone is trying to turn right.

If a bit more thought had gone into this would it not have been better to make it left turn only?

As for the lowering of the speed limit to 20mph, this was a complete waste of time and money, especially between the Floral Way and Burghclere Down roundabout.

I am sure that some of the cars travelling along here are trying to race those on the A303.

With response to the letter submitted by David Drew on 26 September, 2014, does he understand the question as his answers have certainly not made any difference?

Also in respect of his comment, which stated: “Some residents decided that they did not want to be part of the scheme. Hazel Close was one such area. The council listened and they are excluded from it.”

As a resident of Hazel Close – one of 24 houses – how many were consulted/ asked regarding the scheme?

I certainly was not one of them.

Hazel Close did not have a parking problem – it does now.
