I READ with interest and puzzlement the comments made by Councillor Sean Woodward, executive member for economy, transport and environment, on Hampshire County Council’s website, concerning the reduction to opening hours to our waste recycling centres.
He says that these changes will bring about savings of over £150,000, but he does not explain how this will happen.
Perhaps it is possible for him to explain to me, and other residents, how this will be achieved.
I will be pleased if he can break it down into the various areas where these savings will come from. For example, job losses, fewer bin movements, less fuel, less landfill tax and so on.
He blithely claims this figure as a way to stop the closing of sites in our region. I struggle to see the logic in this, so it would be nice to have a definitive answer to this as well.
