REGARDING the Roman Way yellow lines.

I was at the residents’ meeting and was disgusted with the man from Test Valley who stated that a full consultation was performed by TVBC.

Yes they had a show of what they proposed on a WEEKDAY from 9-5 when most of the residents were at work.

The original notices were stuck on the lampposts last summer and many residents were not aware of any plans.

My wife and I went the length of Roman Way with a petition to object to the plans and all the residents asked signed the petition stating NO to the parking restrictions. We had over 60 signatures.

I went to TVBC and presented the petition stating the objections, as we have no additional parking available in our section of the road. They talked about traffic calming, I said that the parked cars were the traffic calming as you could not speed along our bit.

They also stated that they would not accept the petition as each individual resident would have to object in writing.

Now we have double lines outside our houses and the cars and buses travel past at much higher speeds. We had no notification of any description of when the lines were to be put down, I came home from work and they had been laid. Am I happy with them?

No, not at all.
