OH DEAR! Another historic building goes up in flames (John O’Gaunt Inn, Advertiser, May 29).
On the subject of old flames, just when I thought Sir George Young ex-Conservative MP (bye then George) has been put out to grass up pops a ‘minnie me’ in the form of Kit ‘alright, lar?’ Malthouse.
He and his spouse were large as life on page two opening a new tandoori; resembling a better fed version of Mr and Mrs David Cameron.
Also (letters) I read Richard Kidd is still trying to get some answers concerning the ‘inner workings’ of local government here while ‘news in brief ’ writes of Cllr Iris Andersen’s (Con) mayorhood.
She’s worked hard for St Mary’s ward but what, exactly, Cllr Hamilton (Con) has done to merit deputy Mayor eludes me.
Ms Fowler’s email about Mr Gerald Stoodley, a bit harsh perhaps, he should be recognised for his charity work with at least a CBE (or what’s left of it); it is only fair, Iris got mayor!
