IN RESPONSE to Mr D Skinner’s letter in the July 10 edition of our Andover newspaper he obviously cares passionately about Andover so how about contacting the town clerk at Andover Town Council on townclerk@andover- tc.gov.uk and applying to be co-opted on to the council?
We have six vacant seats since only 13 people put in their election papers in May and as they were unopposed became councillors without an election.
As a new council we currently only have responsibility for the 500+ allotments with more in the pipeline; making us not only one of the largest parishes in England but we also manage the most amount of allotments.
From talking to other parishes there are very few councils of varying sizes who provide running water and lockable toilets on their sites. Both come as standard in Andover. With our second term in office now secured, we have big plans for the services we want to offer, so please watch this space and if you have the time apply to join us, closing date for applications is 31st August 2015.
