REGARDING the Weyhill Road Cycleway.
Despite coming second against this rarely used insane bi-directional cycleway, a sign hastily and poorly erected in January 2015 read, and I quote: “Works start here 26-1-15 for 16 weeks”. Oh really!
My calculation takes that to 18 May, 2015 and they have nowhere near finished. Numerous FOI requests advises a total cost of £230,000. I don’t believe it and neither should anyone else. I sincerely hope that the contract was a firm price contract regardless of the time it will take to complete.
In no way do I point the finger at the workers involved but activity seems to start around 9am and conclude around 3pm Monday-Friday.
I just wonder if that is because the company are based in Rowland’s Castle which is about three miles north of Havant, on the Hampshire/ West Sussex border and travelling time is factored into working hours.
Over the decades both HCC and TVBC waste our money on unnecessary and irrelevant projects, but I have to say this one takes some beating.
