THE anonymous letter published in a recent edition labelled ‘Wrong Speaker’ raises a number of concerns and has prompted us at The Wellington Academy to respond in this column.

The perception that we had inflicted misery on our pupils is factually incorrect as Manuela Wahnon was invited into the Academy as part of a series of guest speakers, including the Garrison commander and other community leaders.

We are fully committed to becoming the Academy of choice for the community we serve and a wide range of local councillors also attended the most recent assemblies.

The feedback from which has been very positive and the pupils are now setting up a group to continue this vital community engagement.

I urge the letter’s author to come and visit The Wellington Academy and see for themselves the work and dedication of the pupils.

Only then will the claims of the author be dispelled and consigned to the archive of rumour and conjecture.

We are committed to the best outcomes for each pupil and will work tirelessly to ensure they are proud, able and happy members of the community.
