SOME time ago I sent you an email concerning the unsightly state of the now derelict garage on the corner of Salisbury Road/Millway Road.

Councillor Sandra Hawke said it was very difficult to get the owners of the property to clean up their area but as if by magic a team came and cut down the weeds and tidied up.

That lasted for about nine months and gradually it deteriorated back to its untidy state.

I complained once more and it was cleaned up again.

It has now resumed its untidy state and is a real eyesore that does not add to the good impression of Andover by visitors and residents.

The town and surrounding areas are generally very well kept and the floral arrangements are kept to a high standard by the council workers.

It is a shame the town is let down by the owners of this site and steps should be taken to encourage the owner to take immediate action. I recall one of the local residents complaining that rubbish was being dumped there and also a report that needles (probably infected) were among the mess.

It must be very unpleasant for residents of the surrounding homes to be faced with that unsightly view every day. Let us have some urgent and permanent clean up action.
