I WOULD like to follow up in response to the subject of someone wanting to break away from TVBC.

We would not be able to have the services we have here in Andover.

The reason I can see is when the government gave the right to buy our own council houses it was then that the rates were taken away.

If we reverted back to being Andover Borough Council as it was many years ago, the feeling would be: “Where would the money come from to support our local bodies such as leisure, policing, parks, waste collection, roads and highways and much more that makes up the community infrastructure?”

This would then mean the council having to put prices up to have to pay for these and other services.

Rents and council taxes would be increased causing more misery for residents of Andover and outlying villages within the Test Valley boundaries.

I also feel that we do need more investment put into the Andover areas to encourage more companies to come here and thus helping with the unemployment issues that are here.

Not only that more houses being built so where are the jobs going to come from?

More schools and doctors’ surgeries are needed.

So all I am saying is that Andover needs to stay with TVBC and under the guidance of HCC.

I myself do not think Andover would survive and then we would be a town lost in the past once again.
