FOLLOWING on from the article dated August 28, 2015, regarding Mr Iain Norrington and his problem with potholes, I can only sympathise with him and the frustration that he must be feeling with the lack of responsibility from the highways authorities.

If you are to report potholes then you may as well note most of the roads in the county.

Of course this is not uncommon, as not only the roads, but footpaths are all in need of attention, as is the case with the lady at KAW and the injuries she and her child sustained, due to the uneven walkway.

After many years of complaints about the state of the potholes (tarmac termites as I named them) on River Way, the highways authorities resurfaced the whole area at the beginning of 2014.

They were to commence works on the much needed Pilgrims Way phase two at the end of 2014/15.

This was to include the footpath along the perimeter of the estate.

However no work has started and when the question was asked why, I got the usual answer: “We don’t have the funds at this time.”

Aster repaired some of the footpaths on the estate, but left the ones belonging to the highways authority. The area now looks like a patchwork quilt, so my question is why can’t they get their act together and resolve the problems which exist throughout Hampshire?
