HAVING just read your article regarding Tony Clowes, managing director of Andover Market Traders Ltd, getting his first ever caution by Rushmoor Council in 35 years of business, I am left wondering how and why the Advertiser acquired this information in the first place.

Why did you need to print such a large over-informed statement on something that has obviously been dealt with and does not affect Mr Clowes’ trading in Andover.

Further on the same page Mr Clowes appears to be regarded as the bad man for following market rules allowing only one trader selling the same or similar products on the market.

I personally think Tony Clowes has done a brilliant job managing and trading within Andover Markets over many years and does not deserve this adverse publicity!

If only Test Valley Borough Council had followed these rules over the years and put a block on the number of same or similar product traders allowed at one time, perhaps the opening and closing of shops in Andover would have been minimal and we wouldn’t be left with so many similar trading establishments as of present!
