I WRITE in response to Claire Perry’s column in last Friday’s Advertiser (October 30).

I’m rather disappointed in her choice of language. Her opinion of people who demonstrated at the Tory Party conference in Manchester last month as “grubby rent-amob activists” – this is offensive to the 70,000 plus which included some of her constituents.

Manchester police were pleased to report that the demo was a peaceful one with only 4 arrests.

To concentrate on the few rowdies who annoyed her gives a very skewed view of the overall conduct of the demonstrators.

Those demonstrators were exercising their right to protest and fight for their jobs, families and communities.

Also decency – something that seems to be lacking in the Tory party.

When the “professional class”, i.e the doctors, the lawyers, the teachers, etc come out to protest against the cuts and austerity her party is imposing, then something has gone very wrong!

Ms Perry says that the “ideological movement” is in “its last days” – she is very much mistaken. People are seeing through the spin and deception put out by her party, hence the surge in support for Jeremy Corbyn.

Her party’s “fixing of the country” by increasing food banks from 66 (in 2010) to the present 421 and “reducing”

the debt from £800 billion (2010) to £1.5 trillion (present) is considered a success!

I dread to think what is her idea of failure!
