AT A time when some lucky people may be receiving new bikes may I remind them, and others too, of the advisability of keeping a record of its number?
This would be needed if the bike went missing and was then recovered to enable the police to confirm ownership.
This fact was underlined for me when I reported a bike in the river recently.
I was rather dismayed at the casual attitude to what must be, to someone, a considerable loss.
No particulars were taken but I was told it would be reported to the council for recovery.
I hope this has taken place. At the time of writing the bike is still there after being reported on December 11.
If you have lost a blue bike with the word ‘Giant’ on it, it may be the one by the northern road bridge on Western Avenue, near the ex-Magistrates Court.
