THE powers that be made a decision... whoopy-do!

The decision was disrespectful and downright near criminal to the brave soldiers who paid the ultimate price for our freedom in this great town of Andover.

And it’s that freedom, among other things, that makes me write to you with regards to the cenotaph in Andover.

We campaigned vigorously and managed to attain more than 7,000 signatures. This was done so that we could return our heroes’ memorial to a place of pride in our High Street and the elite decided it was better left in the graveyard!

I am, and always will be, an Andover lad and I am totally amazed and disappointed at how stupid this decision is...

it’s a no-brainer! Yet still they argue to continue the disrespect to our town’s fallen heroes.

What more can we say, other than it’s time to put back what was not yours to move in the first place!

I will continue to support the campaign to return our war memorial cenotaph to its rightful place where everyone can show their respect to the sacrifice these brave men made.

I assure the kind people of Andover who showed their respect by signing our campaign petition that this issue is currently ‘unresolved’ and the fight for what is genuinely right goes on.

If the British Legion supported our campaign, why can’t they?
