I LIKED the contents of Andover Town Council’s Richard Rowles’ letter.
I personally have no political alliance, but strongly feel that town and parish councils should consist of a mix of persons willing to put aside their politics and act as Mr Rowles puts it: For the betterment of Andover and doing our civil duty.
Since the forming of the town council it has had more than its fair share of criticism, whilst seemingly not being given the powers and duties they are entitled to, vested in them through Acts of Parliament.
These powers and duties can be clearly seen on the internet.
Andover Town Council has five wards within its powers, Millway, Harroway, St Mary’s, Winton and Enham, and again I personally feel now is the time the powers regarding these wards be returned to Andover Town Council, now it has stood the test of time.
