WHAT a wonderful sight to see the Flying Scotsman steam through Andover shortly before 7pm on Saturday evening on her way back to London after a tour of the Southern areas, including Romsey and Salisbury.
It was a great turnout at the station, despite little advanced warning – a brief update on social media an hour or so beforehand was all the notice many received.
It’s a timely reminder that I and a couple of town councillors are starting a group called Friends of Andover Station.
Like other station Friends groups, its purpose is to work to bring improvements and generally make the station environment better for all visitors.
And as one of the gateways into Andover, improvements here will make a positive statement about our town.
