TRAVELLERS using the George yard car park is surely not all bad news.
Having used half of the available parking spaces for an extended period, the council must have received a substantial amount of cash in the form of pay and display charges. They will have reaped even more as some of the tourists, whilst enjoying our pretty and tranquil town, used several spaces, and if any of the visitors mistakenly failed to display a parking permit at any time their fines will have boosted our coffers.
Surely this can only result in a reduction of Council Tax for the permanent residents who must also pay ever increasing parking fees, or perhaps the money is used to pay clean up costs for places like Picket Twenty where they have cheekily stayed for free.
