I AM getting slightly bored by week after week being told how wonderful Andover town is. The latest letter has even invited me to come and see what is available. How patronising.
I have lived in the Andover area for 70 years, quite a few of which I worked in Andover High Street. I am aware that I can buy jewellery — not difficult considering there are seven jewellery shops within close proximity. I am also aware that I can purchase endless cups of coffee, get my hair cut and buy balloons; hardly an essential.
I don’t have any spare time to search the river for a trout.
I am far too busy looking for essentials such as household linen, bed linen, curtains and a good selection of lamp shades. If Andover is one of the best High Streets in the country, I dread to think what all the others are like.
Disabled parking seems to be diminishing. It is almost impossible to access the Upper High Street if disabled.
Please don’t suggest walking from the car park behind Marks and Spencer — virtually impossible if you are disabled.
