MIGHT I have some space to praise Shipton Primary school once again?

We elders were invited to have Christmas dinner with the children and the chefs put on a wonderful meal for us.

We were greeted into this pristine school with a warm welcome and shown into a dining hall where the tables were lavishly decorated.

Mrs P Boakes has run the school with love and skill and has performed a wonderful job in her short time as head mistress and we wish to say a big thank you to her and also Mrs D Johnson and all other teaching staff.

It seems like magic to see all the different projects the children are taught.

One project was close to my heart and that was the Stonehenge project and any school can hire a box from Stonehenge with articles that have been unearthed at the sight.

Four delightful children guided us around the school and I have had permission to mention their names and they were treasurer Taylor; head chairman, Caitlin; school councillors, Conner and Holly.

A tribute to the children that sang carols for us all.

This made Christmas real for us.

Tiny eyes flew wide open when I told them that I attended this school when I was young and at that time there were only three classrooms and three teachers.

Being in the school brought back good memories and some bad.

My favourite teacher in all of my school days was the beloved Mrs Bradbury.

This dear lady treated poor and better off children the same as each other, God bless her.

A message to the parents of our four Guides.

Just to say well done to these and all other children in Shipton primary.

They are well behaved, well turned out, and have so many talents.

Well done teachers and parents — they are a credit to you all.

Once again many thanks for the last write up, terrific work as usual.

These “thank yous” go a long way when people work so hard and put spirit into helping and teaching others.
