I AM not sure on what grounds Robert Miller (Letters, February 17) believes leaving the EU increases the likelihood of war.

Wars result from the collision of irreconcilable ideologies.

There has never been a war between two democracies.

If there is to be another worldwide conflagration, it will most likely be between plutocratic Russia, totalitarian Marxist China and the west.

Britain is of strategic and historical importance.

Its values are a beacon to the world. Our foreign policy should be in light of this.

Most of all, we should not kowtow to countries like China, whose record on human rights is appalling.
