I WOULD expect nothing less of Cllr Ian Carr, as leader of the council for over 18 years, that he would have put steps into place with his cabinet and his group months ago, to effect a smooth transition of power, with minimum disruption to the council, and all that he has built up over his time at the helm.
Speaking personally, I can attest to the fact that Ian Carr has been a sterling supporter of my “Attitude of Gratitude Campaign”.
He has been invaluable in his efforts to facilitate my out-of-town school presentations.
He has attended, along with other councillors, organised litter picks – and private ones, too.
I cannot speak more highly of his endeavours to always put the needs of his constituents first, while still producing value for money.
Under his tutelage, the council has repeatedly won awards for not exceeding Government-set targets. No mean feat in itself.
I’m sure he will be handing over the baton to an equally resourcefully elected councillor, who will carry on his good work into the future.
Hopefully now he and Beryl will be able to devote some well-earned time to enjoying their shared love of various sport and hobbies.
