AS someone who endeavours to accomplish all local transits on foot, I am in a position to corroborate the observation of the gentleman who mentioned vehicles in wet weather, being deliberately driven too close to the kerb, in order to drench nearby pedestrians.

The behaviour covers the spectrum – cars, vans, and on one occasion in the vicinity of Enham Arch, an orangecoloured “Wheelers” bus and, although lacking like so many of them the necessary attitude / aptitude to be “on the road” as a driver, I would bet that the “driver” of that vehicle had nevertheless been issued with a PSV driving licence.

It is undoubtedly a spin-off from the general very poor standard of driving on Andover’s roads, in particular with adherence to the 30mph limit long ago gone the way of the dodo – morning, noon and night, 90 per cent of the drivers using Artists Way do so at 50mph.

What is the point of the “driving test” in its present form, when they could train monkeys to drive like that?

Thank you for efficiently publishing my letter regarding the lost Christmas money (Letters, February 10) – the rightful owner put in a prompt claim on the same Friday morning.
