THERE has been various correspondence regarding the public toilets including using toilets in local businesses.

The toilets in the Redbridge public house are pub toilets and have high usage and are not to as high a standard as those in the George Yard car park which has been closed.

On Saturday I used the toilets in the Chantry Centre and I was disgusted at the facilities. Two of the four urinals were blocked, two of the washing basins were out of order and one of the two hand driers was not working.

I don’t know who is responsible for the maintenance of these toilets but if they are paid by Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC) for these facilities then that money should be withheld until decent facilities are provided. What a Vision for Andover!

I would also suggest local councillors and that those who took the decision to close the George Yard car park toilets should regularly take it upon themselves to visit all the toilets designated for public use and check if they are up to the standard that the public have a right to expect and report back to the council. If they are not then the monies paid to provide the facilities (£1,500 per year) should be withheld until they are up to an acceptable standard.
