HOW embarrassed I was when I took my sister into town this weekend whilst on a visit from Shropshire.
The empty shop units in abundance were a sight for sore eyes.
Why can’t we make the empty shops look half decent covering them up at least with nice posters, as they do in Basingstoke?
There are no shops of any significance to even browse around. Plenty of coffee shops, pound shops and charity shops. Public toilets?
What has happened to this town? Who is responsible for the lack of traders coming in?
The population in Andover has grown but the facilities are not growing to support the people. No wonder people go out to Basingstoke, Winchester or even further afield.
Those responsible take note. Andover will soon be a ghost town, with no shopping facilities, full of undesirables and drugs on every corner. A sorry excuse of a town, sadly.
Absolutely shameful.
Everyone is complaining but what can we do?
Are authorities walking around with their eyes closed, waiting for a miracle?
Are they being pro-active or waiting for the day to report that Andover Town no longer exists?
