I READ with great amusement, Cllr Nick AdamsKing’s response (Letters 20 April) to Joanne Coole’s letter about TVBC Cabinet councillors appalling mishandling of the toilet debacle (Letters 13 April).

Whilst an apology is too much to expect, Nick’s attempt to politicise the public toilet campaign is laughable.

He has forgotten Cllr Iris Andersen started the campaign, supported by Cllrs Cockaday, Lovell and Mutton.

Iris’s community spirit inspired us to get involved and I wonder, had we been Conservative Party members, would we also have been ‘warned off ’ like Iris was?

Do Nick and his cohort think every communityminded councillor / resident who disagrees with TVBC is a Lib Dem?

In 20 years, not one ward councillor has knocked on our door to introduce themselves or canvass.

Until 2010, we voted Conservative (and possibly for Tony Blair) but having watched Labour and Conservatives ruin our economy and adopt more extreme left / right wing policies, we loaned the Lib Dems our vote and thought the coalition years were the best in decades; no extremism.

In 2017, we got politically active for the first time when Theresa May broke her promise and called a snap general election.

So, Nick has the Conservatives to thank (or blame) for our political and community involvement.

Finally, Nick is very presumptuous regarding our political intentions.

Despite much encouragement to stand by community-minded Conservative councillors, Joanne has no political ambition.

However, if Nick and his cohort continue to neglect the community, their failings might be enough to persuade Joanne to change her mind!

My vision for TVBC is to have a good mix of community-minded councillors representing all political parties / independents, so that the political views of all voters are represented.

If I have to stand as a candidate to help achieve this vision, so be it.
