IT WAS good to read the letter in the Advertiser of June 22 from John Davies (Go more green) — so encouraging to see Andover residents give a high priority to recycling.
Mr Davies will be pleased to hear that, as with all our neighbouring Hampshire authorities, Test Valley does not send thin plastics to landfill.
At 6 per cent our landfill performance remains one of the lowest in the UK; we recycle or convert to energy 94 per cent of our waste in Test Valley.
As members of the Hampshire Waste Partnership we continue to push hard for facilities to recycle thin plastics, and we remain hopeful of an outcome to this next year.
More details of this push can be found on page 14 of the TVBC Waste Strategy 2018 to 2023 on our web site.
Cllr Graham Stallard, Environmental Portfolio Holder, Test Valley Borough Council
