I WOULD like to thank all the readers who responded to my earlier letters on surnames and their origins.
The surname, Eastland, means dweller to the east of the farm or settlement.
Nalder means dweller by an alder tree or group of alder trees. Harber could mean dweller by the harbour or another type of shelter.
If you have a rare surname that chances are that everyone with that name is related albeit distantly.
Reader wishing to know more about the origins of their surname can write to me at 96, Genoa Court, Andover, SP10 5JD and I will do my best to assist them.
Richard J Kidd, Andover
