BHF Golden Anniversary

OUR British Heart Foundation national charity is celebrating its 50th year in 2010. In the 50 years the charity has done so much with research, promotions and after care.

Even so death from heart related problems still surpasses cancer-related deaths and so the work of our charity needs to continue unabated.

Our local branch has joined with the rejuvenated Old Tyme Music Hall Society to organise a celebratory concert at St Ann’s Hall on Saturday 6 March, commencing at 7pm. There will be a sherry reception and interval refreshments.

Ticket price £7 will shortly be available from Waterstones shop, the Tourist Office and members of the BHF branch and the Music Hall members.

We are also involved in collections at Sainsbury, Bridge Street store on Thursday 11 February, Tesco River Way Store on Friday 12 February and at Asda on Saturday 13 February. The Asda collection will commence at 1pm and from 2pm until 4pm the 4x4 TT’s band will be providing accompanying music.

If any readers would be willing to help us in any of these days their assistance would be very welcome.

All these events should help us to achieve our financial year target for the branch of £10,000.

Lt Col Brian Page, Chairman, Andover and District branch, British Heart Foundation, Amber Gardens, Andover.
