I READ with interest in last week’s Advertiser that the council is ‘surveying’ the people of Test Valley on the issue of public art.
Given that there has been very little correspondence in this paper on the subject, and certainly no calls for any sort of consultation (unlike with the issue of the cenotaph) it seems strange that the council are prepared to seek public opinion on that issue (where on earth would the money come from for more installations?) but NOT the location of the war memorial.
Surely, the cenotaph is equal if not more important to the town than its public art and therefore is deserving of at least similar treatment?
