I AM writing to you to make you aware of Andover Trees United.
Almost every school in Andover is taking part and some village schools. It is a 10- year tree planting project. Last year 1,200 trees were planted in their nursery beds and now we need your help to dig up the trees from the nursery beds and plant them on the woodland site between Smannell Road and Enham Alamein.
The planting dates are from 26 November — 7 December.
Please help us to plant these trees. Remember that trees help us to live by producing oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide which slows down climate change. They are beautiful and provide habitats for wildlife and plants which will give us more food.
This is the first year of planting trees to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and form part of the Olympic’s sustainability legacy.
If you can help contact your school, write to Wendy Davis at Portway Junior School, SP10 3NA or email andover treesunited@gmail.com.
