WITH regards to the letter from Trevor Bowsher titled “Where is Elderly Escape Route?”.
Having spent many years working in public buildings, one of the important things to do if the fire alarm was triggered, was to stop people using the lift.
Elderly and infirm persons, and not to forget pushchairs, would be assisted to safety via the stairs, whether by members of staff or fire crew.
