I WAS deeply saddened to hear of the death of Reg Presley.
Reg’s band and mine, Ten Feet Five, were rivals in Andover during the early to mid-1960s.
Reg was in fact the bass player in the band as the late Dave Wright was their singer.
However, when Pete Staples and Chris Britton from Ten Feet Five hooked up with Reg and Ronnie Bond, Reg took over singing duties, changed his name to Presley and went on to great things.
Reg developed into a fine frontman and his and the band’s influence on the rock world was immense.
Wild Thing became one of rock’s great anthems and I was so pleased that good friends of mine and guys that I had played with put Andover on the map.
