WITH reference to recent correspondence from your readers regarding the lack of shops in Andover town: I feel I must encourage Andover people to have a more positive view and to support the shops that are still here, particularly the small independent ones, many of whom have been in the town for some considerable years. In reality are the backbone of this market town.
Fortunately there have been a couple of positive replies but it takes more than two letters to raise the confidence of shoppers and to encourage them to investigate what is there for them.
Visit all the side alleyways and arcades and you will be surprised.
We are here to greet you cheerfully and to be as helpful as we can.
Although we do not have the capacity for large department stores, we have the prerogative of being smaller interesting shops.
It is difficult for everyone in a recession and your support is vital.
So use us or lose us.
