Councillor is doing what he should
10:40am Friday 27th September 2013 in Letters
I FELT that I had to query the intention of John Bentham’s letter in last week’sAdvertiser.
He is trying to belittle the actions of a genuine hard working councillor.
Living on the outskirts of Newbury he is completely out of touch with the people of Andover.
First of all I would point out that the Andover residents petition for the reinstatement of the Andover War Memorial to its original site in Andover has been ongoing for a long time and was not, and is not, an official ‘UKIP idea’.
What Cllr Tony Hooke has done is what he and every elected councillor should do, serve the people. When people approach them with a problem query or complaint they take it up as quickly and efficiently as they can.
When approached with the petition he agreed with the 7,000 plus people who have already signed and said he would try and help them in his capacity as a councillor.
So why write such a letter?
Could it be personal feeling interfering with judgement?
