I AM shocked and saddened to read that the Right Honourable Sir George Young is going to retire.

Sir George is the only reason many of us here in the north of Hampshire keep voting Tory.

We have always been blessed here in this constituency with the Tory MPs that we’ve had to represent us, and Sir George is a tip top man.

He is never to busy too give advice and help with problems that arise and I was very angry when he came under fire from MPs in the house over Syria.

People in this country have learned their lesson on giving help of this kind because of the way things have turned out when we’ve sent our soldiers into other quarters, with our people carrying the can and taking blame which is unjustified.

We never should have considered going into that trouble after all we’ve all been told we have no money so how can we fight a war when we’re broke?

Sir George has witnessed some of the best and some of the worst times in Government but his work has not been done without being noticed here, and I feel sure that many of us would urge him to stay.

I’ve already written to The Prime Minister hoping that he will talk Sir George out of this decision.

The Smith family wish Sir George Young all the best for Christmas and it’s our Christmas wish that he changes his mind on retirement. God bless him and keep him safe. God bless our Queen and her family.

God bless you all and here’s wishing you all at the Andover Advertiser the very best for the future.
