REGARDING the white hut pictured in the Town Mills photograph: this served as the office for the milling company at the time.

They were Thomas King of Warminster and Andover who specialised in animal feed. Immediately inside was a wooden counter where, as a boy I would order corn for my parents’ chickens.

From memory, Mr King lived in Croye Close and was my godfather, though that meant nothing in practice.

Incidentally, during the time Chantry Way was being built the mill itself housed Broadway Dental Laboratory, the proprietor being one Tony Hewett, someone now prone to severe bouts of reminiscence.
