JEFF McBride tried last week to defend his town council but even a number of his councillors have given up attending.

The attendance record of some is so poor that the record has become such an embarrassment they can’t show it on their website anymore.

By all means have a town bouncil but don’t waste £130,000 a year on it.

It is undoubtedly the case that the very limited responsibilities of Andover Town Council can easily and immediately be picked up by Test Valley Borough Council.

The administration of the allotments, which is currently the responsibility of Andover Town Council, should be delegated to an allotments association, who would probably do a better job at no cost.
