WITHIN the last 26 years a Welsh professor who was head of the Atomic Energy Authority proclaimed on the 6pm BBC radio news that in the not too distant future we would have more electricity generated from nuclear power than we would know what to do with.

Nobody is saying that today.

I think wind power has a part to play in the pick-n-mix of power sources.

Opponents say no wind and there is no power, which is a non-start argument.

When there is no wind the stoker at the power station shovels on more coal just like he does in the winter. When the wind is blowing a gale he shovels on less coal.

Nobody has ever suggested that wind power is a panacea.

Cheap energy like cheap beer is just a misty mirage – a dream.
