WHO on earth gave permission for yet another fast food outlet in the town?

I refer of course to Subway.

For goodness sake let’s get some diversity in the shops and not keep opening the same types.

I find it absolutely amazing that on the one hand people are being urged to eat sensibly and healthily and yet we put more and more temptation in their path.

I hope the National Health Service is gearing up accordingly!

Whilst I have the choice of Salisbury, Newbury, Winchester, Basingstoke and Marlborough to shop, what on earth is there in Andover to attract me?

I am sure that I am not the only person who feels this way having read some of the previous letters to the Advertiser.

I went into the Encounters pop-up shop recently to give my views on what is needed in Andover (which has been said many times before in the pages of the Advertiser) only to be told it was nothing to do with shops but the “look of the high street” and “street entertainment.”

I think that the basics are much more important than the look of the street.

But as far as the environment is concerned we have some fantastic historic buildings in the town which also need to be renovated and perhaps shop fronts could be designed to enhance these buildings rather than making them look cheap.

Whilst the new bus station is looking lovely surely this money could really have made an incredible difference to the town itself ?
