I ATTENDED the Remembrance service at St Mary’s on Sunday.

The service was excellent and the turnout was terrific but the area is not large enough for the amount of people.

My mother chose a good spot to sit on her stroller but the children, which were lovely to see, stood directly in front of her during the service.

I know it has been brought up many times before but I feel very strongly that the Cenotaph should go back to the high street. This year was a special year as it marked the start of the First World War and it would have been a fitting tribute to mark this special year and it would allow more people to see the service. It would also be fitting for the shops to remain closed until the service is over.
