FOLLOWING the front page story last week on bus services I want to highlight an additional service being introduced for 2015.
From Monday a new bus service will link Augusta Park to the railway station, bus station and hospital – great news for local residents.
The timetable will need careful monitoring as those passengers travelling to London via the station would only get into Waterloo at 8.45am with similar issues at the end of the day.
I have passed on this feedback and it will be a commercial decision for the operator, Wheelers, to make.
This additional service follows the good news back in the summer when the Stagecoach Star 1 service started running on Sundays enabling residents from King Arthurs Way, Roman Way, Cricketers Way, Swallowfields and Augusta Park to get into town and enjoy the regular Andover farmers’ and crafts markets and other events that now take place as a result of the Andover Town Centre Summit.
As with any service I urge residents that use it to do so on a consistent basis so it continues to be commercially viable.
Happy New Year to you all.
Cllr Phil North, Alamein Ward, Andover
