I REFER to the article in the Andover Advertiser, regarding the bus pass campaign.
While I fully support this campaign, might I just say in order to use a concessionary bus pass, one firstly needs a bus service on which to travel.
Many rural villages including mine, have no bus service.
In 1970 Palestine had at least six buses to and from Andover, covering the whole of Palestine. This service operated six days per week from 8am until the last bus back from town at 11pm. It was a frequent, reliable and affordable service and well used.
Since 1970 the parish has increased in size four-fold. In 2015 Palestine has no bus service.
I have lobbied Hampshire County Council, Stagecoach buses and my MP for the reinstatement of our bus service, all to no avail.
Come on the powers that be, let’s sort out the very dismal state of our rural buses.
